                                                                In the state of Ohio, 18.4% of the children are living under poverty levels                                                                                                                              (13.1% nationally for overall poverty, 15th highest among the United States).

                                                          In the state of Michigan, 17.8% of children live under poverty rate—13th in the nation.

               In 2022, Michigan had 370,000 children (ages 0-17) living below the poverty level, representing 17.8% of the child state population.             In addition, 29% of children in Michigan live in households that are asset limited, income constrained, employed families, meaning that they are above the poverty rate but still struggle to afford basic necessities.

                           

 

POVERTY FACTS

 

         Child poverty applies to children from poor families and                orphans being raised with limited or no state resources.                                              (According to UNICEF). 

                              

536 million live in extreme poverty ,  lacking at least one essential necessity, such as:  housing, regular food and clear                                                     water.                                                          (According to UNICEF).
